James "Jim" Beek, of Melrose St. Moncton, passed away at his residence on Sunday, May 19, 1996, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Ferry Road, he was the son of Alice (Jardine) Beek of Miramichi City and the late Petley Beek. He was a Machinist at the CNR until his retirement after 35 years of service. He attended St. Bernard's roman Catholic church, Moncton and was an active Usher within the church. He was Past Grand Knight of Council #1310. Knights of Columbus; a member of the Fourth Degree , Msg Roy M. McDonald Assembly, Knights of Columbus. He was Local Chairman of Lodge #594. I.A. of M., Gordon Yard, Moncton, He was one of the founding fathers of the Lewisville Minor Hockey Association, and was a well respected Referee and Coach.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife Maire (Flanagan) Beek, three sons, Terry (Bonnie) of Dieppe, Gary and Brian both of Moncton, one grandson Ryan James; one uncle Les Jardine of Miramichi City, one aunt Eunice Judson of Riverview; several cousins.
Resting at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton with visiting hours .............Funeral mass will be held at St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church, Botsford Street, Moncton, on Wednesday, May 22, 1996 at 10:30 am with Rev. Bernard Sloan officiating. The family will be receiving relatives and friends at the Church Hall following the mass. Interment in St. Michael's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Miramichi City on Wednesday at 3:30 pm.
Donations in his memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or the New Brunswick Extra Mural Nursing (Driscoll Unit) would be appreciated by the family.
